Check Please!

Each week I feel as though I must check in with... DeviantArt and Pinterest. Whenever I feel like I'm stuck in a creative rut, I just head on over to those two websites and wait for the flood of inspiration to wash over me. I normally read comics on DeviantArt and take inspiration from there. I also enjoy looking at concept art and character designs more than complete artworks excluding certain favorite artists of mine. From Pinterest I have a great inspiration board where I pin random things that I think are cool or inspired me to create something at one point in time, hoping it will inspire me again.

I also head over to YouTube and watch fan made music videos. I feed off of others creative vibes and there's nothing more inspirational that moving pictures set to music. If YouTube can't help me and I'm on my personal computer, I'll turn on my Sims 4 game and just start playing and creating stories in my head. Even if it doesn't get my creative juices right where I need them, I have, at the very least, a way to remove myself from thinking too hard. I play the sims at least twice a week minimum.

Best in T-Shirt/Fashion Design

I enjoy this design a lot.The blank white shirt and the use of just contour lines help make this shirt a really nice piece, especially for those who have a minimalist sense of style.Image result for SolukWorkshop Image result for SolukWorkshop

These shirts are super cool how they interact with the necklaces to create a complete image! I really enjoy interactive clothing like that. It adds an element of creativity that "regular" clothing just won't have.

So, there's this amazing designer from Project Runway Season 12. She's the first black winner of Project Runway. And her name is *cough cough* DOM. That is, Dom Streater (we even share the same initials Crazy!) Funny coinkydink. Anyway, Dom really knows how to play with patterns and colors and I was totally inspired by her work during her season.

~What I Collect~

So, I love really weird and random things. It only makes sense that the artwork I enjoy reflects that. Sometimes it's so weird and out there that I don't quite understand what it means or represents but it's still something I enjoy looking at.

The first artist I will present to you is Nagai Hideyuki.

NAGAIHIDEYUKI's Profile Picture

This Japanese artist makes these cool illusion pieces using shading and two notebooks or a folded piece of paper. He also tricks the eye by cutting out sections of the paper to make the image look as if it is rising up from it. His content is a little random to me but the technique is on point.

He even does large scale paintings such as this one, made of four panels.
Hideyuki also does surreal drawings and has recently dabbled in mixed media combining his drawings and photography as one.

The second artist I will present to you is Cyril Rolando

AquaSixio's Profile Picture

Rolando is a French artist who specializes in the dreamy world of surrealism. His works are normally monochromatic and usually focusing on cool colors. I remember the first piece I ever saw from him was a woman whose hair turned to waves. This was such an eye opener for me honestly! His works have an element of fashion, grace and dance to them.

Lastly I present to you... Cyriak Harris

So this guy... he is crazy trippy. At least his art is. Hailing from England Mr. Harris, or as he goes by Cyriak on his YouTube channel, makes interesting videos to say the least. There are no words to describe what these videos really are. You'll just have to see it for yourself.

This one is just really weird.

MEOW by Cyriak
This one is one of my favorites if not THE favorite. I absolutely love this video. I think it's cute.
TRIGGER WARNING

!!WARNING!! STRONG LANGUAGE Ratchet - Bloc Party
This is a music video he has worked on for a band called Bloc Party. For those of you with weak hearts, this has some "strong language" in the lyrics.

What Inspires Me?

My awesome boyfriend inspires me. My little brothers inspire me as well.
Macabre artists inspire me as well.

I find I'm most creative right before I go to sleep and right before I get out of bed. I'm never really inspired during class, but classes that I don't like I'm more likely to daydream and come up with ideas.
I define art as an extension of oneself. It's a piece of whoever makes it. I think it's larger than visual communication. Art is a lifestyle. There is not a place where you could go where there is no shape or color or form. Art is inescapable.

I like very Victorian styles and also minimalist styles too. I really am inspired by artists who can make two things that don't seem like they should work, and make them work. I also like oriental design.
In film I enjoy creative transitions and ethereal cinematography.
